Provas 13 e 14 podem decidir o título da temporada
Pelo quarto ano consecutivo, o Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Brasil foi incluído na programação do Grande Prêmio do Brasil de Fórmula 1. Para o público que estiver em Interlagos, será uma boa oportunidade de conhecer uma das categorias mais disputadas e equilibradas do automobilismo brasileiro. O atrativo extra é que as duas provas poderão decidir o título da temporada, o que coloca ainda mais pressão sobre Miguel Paludo, Constantino Júnior, Clemente Lunardi, Beto Posses, Ricardo Baptista e Tom Valle. Estes são os seis pilotos que têm chances de vencer o campeonato de 2008.
Para os participantes, uma das melhores sensações das preliminares é correr em Interlagos vivenciando o ambiente eletrizante da Fórmula 1. Como de praxe nas provas durante o GP do Brasil, o formato de disputa será diferente do utilizado habitualmente no campeonato. O treino de sexta-feira será livre, apenas para os pilotos acertarem seus carros. No sábado, o treino classificatório será também uma prova “Flying Lap”, valendo pontos para o campeonato como 13ª corrida do ano. A prova 14 será disputada no domingo, poucas horas antes da largada do GP, e terá a duração habitual de 25 minutos mais uma volta de duração. Depois, restarão somente mais duas provas para o final da temporada, a serem disputadas no dia 6 de dezembro no autódromo de Jacarepaguá, no Rio de Janeiro.
No ano passado, as preliminares do GP do Brasil ofereceram grandes emoções para o público e para os próprios pilotos. O francês Olivier Maximin, que correu como convidado, fez a pole position e levou para casa o troféu da Flying Lap. Ricardo Baptista, segundo no grid, conseguiu os pontos que precisava para se tornar o mais jovem campeão do Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Brasil. Na corrida de domingo, o público vibrou com a acirrada disputa pela ponta entre Baptista, Maximin e Tom Valle. A disputa entre eles só acabou a três voltas da bandeirada, quando Valle e Maximin colidiram no “S do Senna” e deixaram Baptista com caminho livre para vencer.
